William “Bill” Wyant, 60, of Akin, passed away at 12:22 a.m., Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at his residence. If you wish to pay your respects, a memorial celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Anita and Bill's farm in Akin, one mile south of Brady Cemetery, 7432 Hoover Rd, Thompsonville, IL. (look for mule on mailbox) We will be serving a meal and eating at 5 p.m. and if you would like to bring a covered dish, it would be much appreciated. It will be a come and go or come and stay. If you have memories of Bill, come and please share, bring a chair and your favorite beverage, dress casual. A private family service was held at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at the Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Father Joseph Trapp officiated with burial in Brady Cemetery, Akin. He was a journeyman roofer for 35 years and worked in a coal mine for three years maintaining equipment. Bill was born May 14, 1954, in Chicago, the son of William Carl and Delores Josephine (Pence) Wyant. He married Anita Louise Grein on Jan. 12, 1974, at St. Clement's Catholic Church in McLeansboro. Bill was a member of the Eagles Club in Benton, a member of American Legion and former member of Legions Rider's Club. He loved spending time with his grandkids more than life itself. He enjoyed ridding his motorcycle and spent many hours tinkering and creating projects out of wood and metal. He enjoyed his animals throughout his life and especially his mules. He enjoyed his life and his family farm. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Anita (Grein) Wyant of Akin; three daughters, Shellie (Lem) Gage of Dahlgren, Dana (Mike) Flota of Woodlawn and Charlene (Charles) Boyd; seven grandchildren, Darian, Landree and Clay Gage, Daven and Dasen Flota, Trinity and Hunter Boyd; three sisters, Carolyn Johnson, Judy (John) Overtruf and Renna Pritchard, Benton; and one brother, Lyle Wyant of Akin. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Delores (Pence) Wyant; one brother, Mike Wyant; nephew, Melvin “Clyde” Holmes; and brother-in-law, Rick Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the family of Bill Wyant. Harre Funeral Home of Dahlgren is in charge of all arrangements.
