William "Bill"'s Story
DANVILLE - William "Bill" A. Huffman Sr., 83, of Danville, Ill., passed away at 10:49 a.m. October 8, 2017, at his home in Danville.
"Bill" was born February 10, 1934, the son of Oda Don and Pauline Elizebeth (Cobb) Huffman in Danville.
He married Dolores Claire Geary in Philadelphia, Pa., on December 26, 1953.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dolores Huffman of Danville; one son, William Huffman Jr., of California; one daughter, JoAnn O'Malley of Michigan; one sister, Marjorie Hervey of Oregon; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; as well as his beloved dogs, FiFi 1, FiFi 2, Peaches 1, Peaches 2, Winkie and Polly.
"Bill" is preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Lee; one daughter, Cindy Lue Rogers; and one brother, Oda Don Huffman Jr.
"Bill" served his country in the United States Navy, was a conductor on the New York Central Railroad for 18 years and later worked as a Master Gardener for eight years in California.
He enjoyed watching birds, fishing and gardening. Most of all, "Bill" was a great husband and loved his wife and family dearly.
A Graveside Committal Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at Danville National Cemetery. Pastor Wade Martin will officiate.
