Thelma's Story

Thelma Josephine Glenn, 97, of McLeansboro, passed away 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
She was born June 8, 1919, in New Canton, the daughter of Lester Fisher and Thelma (Thomas) Fisher. She married Floyd "Toad" Glenn on Oct. 14, 1936, in Griggsville; he passed away in 1981.
She is survived by son-in-law, Wendell Myers of McLeansboro; daughter, Connie Devore and husband Doug of Carmi; son, Mike Glenn and wife Sharon of McLeansboro; four grandchildren, Brenda Drysdale and husband Chris, Kris Halley and wife Misti, Erin Halley and wife Jackie and Sara Glenn; great-grandchildren, Raegan, Dylan, Kenadee, Isabella, Elizabeth and Alexavier Halley and Maci and Derek Endicott; and one nephew, Carl Henke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Glenn; sister, Juanita Henke; grandson, Bryce Metheney; and daughter, Judy Myers.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Ken Cook officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, McLeansboro.
Josephine was a seamstress employed by Elder Manufacturing. She was involved in a lot of church activities including 33 years as a Sunday school teacher; the founder of Crisis Closet and the mission trips to Jamaica and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She attended the First General Baptist Church, McLeansboro.
