Shirley Ann (Simpson) Wright, 79, of Danville, Ill., went to be with the Lord at 8:04 a.m. Sunday, December 24, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family as she passed.
Shirley was born August 27, 1938, in Delta, Colo. She was the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Frey) Simpson. She had resided in Danville since 1964.
On May 1, 1955, she married John Dea Wright in Goleta, Calif. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2007.
Shirley worked for General Electric in Danville for several years. She was the queen of bargain shopping. She loved her dogs and playing games on the computer. Shirley also loved to dote on her grandchildren.
Surviving are four daughters, Debra Price (John) of Danville, Diana Kaelin (Kenneth Jr.) of Tilton, Ill., Dana Sanders (Bryan) of Westville, Ill., and Doris Williams (Archie) of Urbana, Ill.; siblings, Allen Simpson of Gotebo, Okla., Richard Simpson of Collison, Ill., and Sandra Morain of Grain Valley, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Heather Leary, Misty Sandlin, Christina Loutsos, Jessica Loutsos, Justin Price, Amanda Henthorn and Maylea Williams; and 13 great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and has now joined the love of her life, her husband.
Visitation will be at Faith Baptist Church, 920 Warrington Ave., Danville, at 1 p.m. Friday, December 29 until service time at 2 p.m. with Pastor Al Rudie officiating. Private interment will be at Danville National Cemetery.
