Shirley Williams, 79, of McLeansboro, died 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Aden, the daughter of Sam McCormick and Edith (Wheeler) McCormick. She married Earl E. Williams. She is survived by two sons, Jack Johnson and Jim Garner of McLeansboro; a daughter, Angie Calkin and husband Jim of Dahlgren; a sister, Leona Good of Interlochen, Mich.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandra Adamecz; six sisters, Velma Stephenson, Florene Musgrave, Fleta Cook, Faye Riegling, Cora Williams and Mary Wilson; and a daughter-in-law, Pauline Johnson. She was a presser. She was a member of Ellis Mound Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to read and was an avid treasure hunter with a metal detector. Funeral services were held 12 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Burial was held at Garrison Cemetery in Aden. The visitation was held 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, June 12, until the time of service. Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all of the arrangements.
