Sharon "Mia" Lee Chiapelli, 78, of Waltonville, passed away at 7:29 A.M. February 14, 2017 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born August 24, 1938 in Waltonville, Illinois. Her parents were Arthur "Red" & Irene (Loman) Green. She married Noble Chiapelli on January 16, 1957 and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2010.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February, 17, 2017 at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois with interment to follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois.
Mia is survived by her daughter, Debra Chiapelli of Mount Vernon, Illinois; son, Steven Noble Chiapelli of Waltonville, Illinois; 2 grandchildren, Tara Rose Chiapelli of Dallas, Texas and Clayton Andrew Chiapelli and wife, Candace of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 2 great grandchildren, Briahnna Grace Chiapelli and Cadence "Cade" Andrew Chiapelli; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Mary Pat Chiapelli; brother, Buddy Hall; and sister, Joyce Robinson.
Mia loved the St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed working in her garden, spending time with family, and socializing with friends at the Mule Barn in Dubois. She was a faithful member of Waltonville VFW and the AmVets Ladies Auxiliary. Mia's family would like to thank John Ace and Dennis Joe for helping with any chores she needed assistance with.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to Knob Prairie Cemetery or to Waltonville VFW Post 9153 Ladies Auxiliary and can be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Newell Funeral Home 2707 North Street Mount Vernon, Illinois 62864.
