On Aug. 26, 2017, surrounded by his family, Samuel B. Shank passed this life. Born Aug. 25, 1939, to Howard H. and Mary E. (Pundt) Shank. Married Janet K. Lewis Jan. 15, 1960, at St. James Methodist Church in Danville, Ill. Rev. Paul Curry officiated.
Survived by wife, Janet, and two sons, John C. Shank, Fort Wayne, Ind., and David B. (Dana) Shank, Oak Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Kassy (Adam) Wilcox, David Shank, Sam Shank and Susie Shank; great-grandchildren, Marly and Max Wilcox; sister, Mary E. Cole of Florida; brother, John H. (Helen) Shank of Pennsylvania; special aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Bob Henline of California.
Sam Graduated from Danville High School in 1957, served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. Retired from Berkeley-Davis with 39 years as sales engineer.
Active member of Danville Elks Lodge 332 and was past exhalted ruler; served as president of Elks Blood Bank. Sam enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
Proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Ramona Ribbe; brother-in-law, Ronnie Cole; father and mother-in-law, Mel and Ella Lewis; and special aunt, JoAnn Boose.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Central Christian Church, 1101 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
