Ruth E. McGill, 90, of McLeansboro, died 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in McLeansboro. She was born March 22, 1925, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Charles Douglass Johnson and Stella Ella (Jones) Johnson. She married Robert H. McGill; he preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Gary McGill and wife Linda of Mayfield, Ky., Stephen McGill and wife Peggy of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Richard McGill and wife Sharon of Ava; 11 grandchildren, Brian McGill, Joshuha Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Stephen Jackson, Malissa Dobbs, Matthew McGill, Joshua McGill, Christen Drew, Jennifer McGill, Richard Alex McGill and Luke McGill; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Michael McGill; and several sisters and brothers. She worked in the housekeeping department at Hamilton Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a charter member of First Assembly of God Church. She attended First United Methodist Church in McLeansboro. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Jim Peak officiating. The visitation was held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Gholson Funeral Home. Burial was at Smith Cemetery near Dale. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all of the arrangements.
