FITHIAN - Ruth Grimm, 94, of Fithian, passed away at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Dana, Ind., to Claude and Zula (Warner) Myers.
She married James Russell Grimm on June 1, 1939. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1993.
She is survived by three children, Lora (John) Harrison of Fithian, Nancy (Roy) Durbin of Oakwood and Barry Russell (LuAnn) Grimm Sr. of Oakwood; two brothers, Raymond (Clarene) Myers and Marvin "Bud" (Sue) Myers; two sisters, Norma Jean (Vernon) Peterson and Dorothy (Jack) Martin; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, a sister and five infant siblings.
Ruth was a member of Fithian United Methodist Church and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was an outstanding cook, but especially loved caring for and spending time with her family.
A service to celebrate the life of Ruth Grimm will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel. Pastor Leland L. Legg Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Stearns Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service also at Sunset in Oakwood.
