Ronald D. Satterfield, age 78, a resident of Olney, formerly of McLeansboro, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion. He was born Jan. 20, 1936, in Eldorado. He was the son of E. A. “Ted” and Edith (Carr) Satterfield. He was retired after 30 years working as an insurance broker with the Fehrenbacher Insurance Agency in Olney. He married Joann (Allen) Satterfield on Jan. 10, 1957, and she survives. Mr. Satterfield served in the United States Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Olney American Legion Post, the Elks Club and Eagles Lodge. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bob (Laura) Satterfield of Marion and Ron Satterfield and wife, Michele Ladner, of Apollo Beach, Fla.; one grandchild, Kaitlyn Satterfield of Marion; one brother, the Rev. Ted (Judy) Satterfield of Barbourville, Ky.; one sister, Carolyn (J.C.) Pool of Broughton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Barr. Funeral services for Ronald D. Satterfield were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried will officiate. Burial took place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro with graveside military rites by the McLeansboro American Legion Post 106 and the Military Honors Team from Marion. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney and from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of the arrangements.
