Rolla Oren Samson, 80, formerly of Danville, entered his final rest on Sept. 7, 2016.
Born May 30, 1936 to Alonzo (Lonnie) Samson and Eva Dell Palmer, near Homer, Ill. He attended Homer and Catlin schools where he played basketball.
Rolla worked as a sheet metal worker for the majority of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as seeing new places. He enjoyed watching westerns and game shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Raymond Beard; three brothers, Virgil, Norman and David Samson; two sisters, Lila Bomebrake and Lavina Ramey; and a niece, Judy Schoonover.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina Marie Boltinghouse (Stephen) of Missouri, Cynthia Sue Stangle (Kym) and DeEtta Jane Dimmitt (Rodney) of Indiana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Mark Samson of Springfield, Ill.; as well as countless cousins and his estranged wife, Ella, of Oakwood.
Mr. Samson suffered a massive stroke in Indiana on Aug 18, 2016 and died from complications of the stroke, surrounded by his daughters.
It was Rolla's wish to be cremated and his ashes spread over his favorite fishing holes.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
