Robert Ruskin, 76, of Danville, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Carle Hospital in Urbana, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at St. Pauls Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut St. in Danville with Father Bo Schmitt officiating, with entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. at Papes.
Bob was born Aug. 5, 1941, in Roxana, a son of John and Anna (Snedeker) Ruskin. He married Ann Trainor on Oct. 6, 1978. Survivors include his wife, Ann; son, John (Patti) Ruskin; three daughters, Paula (Joe) Krischel, Emily (Kate) Ruskin and Mesha Ruskin; seven grandchildren, Erin, Joe, Josh, Mason, Adin, Addison and Asher. He was reunited in heaven with his parents, John and Anna; his sisters, Suzanne Hargis and Judy O'Connell; and a niece, Nancy Robinson.
Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran, where he served as a hospital corpsman with the 1st Marine Brigade. Bob was a graduate of SIU Edwardsville with a degree in urban planning. He was a nursing home administrator for 25 years.
Bob truly lived his faith, and touched many lives. He enjoyed prison ministry and nursing home ministry. He was very active in the Cursillo movement, and enjoyed his time as a Eucharistic minister for the home bound. He will be missed by all who knew him.
