Robert's Story

Robert George, Jr., 79, of Danville, formerly of Catlin, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at VA Illiana Healthcare System, Danville. He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Catlin, the son of Robert P. and Clestia H. (Church) George.
He is survived by three children, Monica Long of Urbana, Ohio, Robert W. George, III of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Shannon L. George of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including special niece, Cheryl Hughes of Oakwood and special nephew, Lonnie Tapscott of Danville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry George; a sister, Betty Tapscott; and a brother-in-law, Charles Tapscott.
Robert was a lift truck carriage builder for Hyster. He was a U.S. Marines Veteran. He was a member of United Church of Tilton. He enjoyed coin collecting, walking in the woods, hunting, camping, travelling and being with his family.
Memorial Services will be at noon Tuesday, June 27, at VA Protestant Chapel with Rev. Patti Wise officiating. Burial will be private.
