DANVILLE - Robert William Ervin, 86, of Danville, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville.
He was born on April 6, 1930, in Danville, the son of Clarence and Eleanor Martins Ervin.
He married Betty Powell on May 15, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. She preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2009.
Survivors include: one son, Robert W. II (Julie) Ervin of Catlin; one daughter, Linda (Ken) Blan of Springfield; six grandchildren, Lexi Ervin, Erin Ervin, Amelia Ervin, Stacy (Steve) Ellis, Leanne (Bill) Moore, and Holly (Tom) Slater; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. He owned and operated C.B. Ervin & Sons Painting. He was an avid Cubs and Illini fan and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral service: 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. Pastor Kent Tibben will officiate. Burial in Bethel Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #210. Visitation: 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Robison Chapel, in Catlin, is handling service details.
