Robert (Bob)'s Story
Robert (Bob) Lee Oslager, age 83, passed away October 26, 2017.
Bob was born in Ashley, IL on May 16, 1934, the son of Frank & Stella (Bartnicki) Oslager.
He served 2 years in the US Army in Baumholder, Germany.
He worked for several years in the oil industry on an oil rig for John J. Oslager and C.E. Brehm. He then worked for 26 years as a roof bolter and mechanic at Inland Steel Coal Co. and Consolidation Coal Co.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Millie Oslager; second wife, Martha Oslager; daughter LaVonda Parsell; brothers Frank Oslager, Jr. and Richard Oslager; and sisters, Rose Westbrook, Lenore Pudge Cortez, and Martha Robertson.
Bob is survived by his brother, William (Carmen) Oslager; sister, Dorothy James; Son-In-Law, Lyman (Jamie) Parsell; Granddaughters, Laina (Michael) Shearon, Kayla (Jet) Colson, Mylie Parsell, Stormie Parsell; step children, Kelvin (Shelia) Plemons, Shirley (Bruce) Johnston, Rick (Nikki) Hawkins, Jim (Janice) Hawkins; grandchildren, David (Kristen) Plemons, Sarah (Lars) Dyrud, Hannah (Tom) Greever, Caleb (Jessica) Plemons, Kelly (Andy) Downes, Brad (Latisha) Johnston, Matt (Kristina) Hawkins, Lacie (Gene) Bagwell, Jessa Hawkins (James Graham); and many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Jane Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 29th at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with Bro. David Shores officiating. Burial with Military Rites provided by the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 will be in the Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
