Richard T. "Dick" Wodetzki, 86, of Sebring, Fla., passed away January 1, 2018, at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Before relocating to Sebring in 2016, Mr. Wodetzki resided in Danville for all 85 years of his life. He was born April 6, 1931, to Lewis E. and Evelyn Six Wodetzki.
After graduating Danville High School and completing his service in the United States Navy, he joined his father at Ideal Alarm Company, where he worked his entire career. He assumed ownership of the company when his father died in 1967, and remained there until he sold the company in 1987.
He married Geraldine Hughs in 1962. They shared a wonderful life together until she passed away in 2011. He missed her terribly.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Wodetzi's brothers Lewis and Glen, and sister Dorothy Rebenstorf, predeceased him. He is survived by his sisters, Joan Brittingham and Louise Cochran; many nieces and nephews; the daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of his wife; and his wife's niece, Elizabeth Hughs, who helped him whenever he needed it in Florida. He loved them all dearly.
A celebration of Dick's life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
