WEST LEBANON, Ind. - Richard P. "Dick" Simonton, 73, of West Lebanon, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 8:38 a.m. EST Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Williamsport Nursing & Rehab.
Dick was born February 5, 1945, in Williamsport, Ind. He was the son of Howard and Eula (Gross) Simonton.
He lived most of his life in Warren County, Ind., living briefly in Wilmington, Ohio, at Nike Army base while proudly serving his country. He returned to West Lebanon, Ind., and has resided there since 1968. He was a 1964 graduate of Seeger Memorial High School.
Dick married Charlotte Livingston on June 10, 1967, in Wilmington, Ohio. She preceded him in death on January 6, 1993. He later married Janet Kay Sutliff on July 6, 1995, in Munfordville, Ky. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2011.
Dick served in the United States Army and, after his enlistment, worked in Attica full time at Harrison Steel Casting Company and part time at Super Test gas station. He worked 36 years for Rea Magnet Wire in Lafayette, Ind., retiring in 2009.
Dick was a member of Illiana Antique Car Club, enjoyed car shows, collecting antique model cars. He loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by girlfriend, Beth Cutrell of West Lebanon, Ind.; two daughters, Sharon Simonton of Attica, Ind., and Tina Bolin (husband: Charlie) of Williamsport, Ind.; son, Tim Garrison of Kokomo, Ind.; two sisters, Patricia Babb of Glascow, Ky., and Lameta Smart (husband: Jim) of Attica, Ind.; two brothers, Charles Simonton of Veedersburg, Ind., and Walter Simonton of West Lebanon, Ind.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son Roger Garrison; granddaughter Tisha Marie Garrison; and son-in-law, Eddie Fields.
Visitation will be at 5-8 p.m. EST Wednesday, February 21, at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport. Services will be there at 11 a.m. EST Thursday, February 22, with grandson, Michael Garrison officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery in West Lebanon will full military honors.
