Richard McKinney, age 67, of Mt. Vernon, Ill. passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Regional Health Center, Mt. Vernon. He was a machinist. Richard was born March 12, 1947 in Lutesville, Mo. the son of Jefferson and Audrey Richards McKinney. He was married to Alice Marie Biggerstaff on August 31, 1968. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He loved the Cubs, fishing, and he was an all around “Handy Man” who loved to help others. Survivors include his wife, Alice McKinney of Mt. Vernon, IL, one daughter: Aleta Bumbar (husband) Allen - Sandwich, IL. Seven brothers: Russell McKinney (wife Maria) of Sandwich, IL, Robert McKinney of Wayne City, Lyndell McKinney of Blairsville, Ill.,Ronnie McKinney (wife Linda) ofWayne City, Dean McKinney (wife Rosemary) of Marion, Ill., Jerry McKinney (wife Jeannie) of Morris, Ill., Jimmy McKinney (wife Fran) of Tuscon, Ariz. Two sisters: Sharon Gillis of Odin, Ill. and Jean Hahn of Largo, Fla. Grandchildren: Triston and Ashley Bumbar, Lora Mobley, Melissa, Amanda and Jennifer Millim Great-grandchildren: Skye and Madison Brockman, Traveon and Kylie Millim. Services for Richard McKinny were held Friday July 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Harre Funeral in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial was at Crouch Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 106 and the Military Honors Team from Marion. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Harre Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by: his parents, daughter Lisa Millim, sister Ailene Klinker and brother Donald McKinney. Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all arrangements.
