Richard McClain, 75, of Danville, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center. Per his wishes, Richard was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Faith Deliverance Worship Center, 326 E. Seminary Street, in Danville. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at noon, with Pastor Steve Perkins officiating.
Richard was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Glenn Allen, Miss., to Frank and Clara McClain. On Oct. 3, 2015, he married the love of his life, Pastor Vera Miller-McClain. He attended school in Glenn Allen and worked at the University of Texas Medical Center for 21 years. Richard was also a long-distance truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, shopping, and watching sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was known for "dressing to impress."
Richard is survived by his wife; his children, Samuel (Tawanna) Walker, Michael (Takisha) Walker, Ella (Jesse) Worthington, Sheila Walker and Mitchell (Lavonna) Walker; one sister, Ada (Edward) Lyons of Greenville, Miss.; and two brothers, Johnny Fields of Vicksberg, Miss., and William Fields of Shaw, Miss. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.
