Rex Elwood Hodge, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:29 P.M. October 21, 2017 at Lavender Ridge Dignified Memory Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born October 6, 1933 in Mill Shoals, Illinois to Charles "Bud" and Delphia (McIntosh) Hodge. He married Betty S. Hicks on July 11, 1954 in Fairfield, Illinois.
Mr. Hodge is survived by his wife, Betty S. Hodge of Mount Vernon, Illinois; five children, Jan Reeve and husband, Ed of Hyde Park, Utah, Cindy Dude and husband, Bob of Argyle, Texas, David Hodge and wife, Amy of Mahomet, Illinois, Julie Hodge of Savannah, Georgia, and Steve Hodge of Mount Vernon, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Williams and husband, Phil of Fairfield, Illinois; brother, John Hodge and wife, Betty L. of Fairfield, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlene King.
Rex was a civil engineer and a partner of Wilson Hodge and Groh. He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and served as a longtime Deacon there. He was on the Carmi Baptist Childrens Home Board and the Board of Trustees for Southwest Baptist University in Boliver, Missouri.
Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Morning Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Brother Alan Smith officiating.
