Quincy O'Neil Scott, 82, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:29 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana. He was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Saltillo, Miss., the son of Charlie and Ella (House) Scott. He was united in marriage to Faye Redd on Feb. 8, 1957, until her passing Jan. 14, 2015.
He will be dearly missed by son, Quincy (Katy) Scott Jr; daughter, Laurie (Chuck McNeese) Tibbs; brothers, Buddy Scott, Wayne (Larue) Scott, and Joe (Sherry) Scott; sister, Polly Harris; sister-in-law, Kolleen Scott; grandchildren, Angela Tibbs, Valerie (Jay) Chapman, Alex Scott, and Loren (Dillon Harris) Scott; great-grandchildren, Ridley Chapman, Cassidy Bowen, and two on the way in July. Quincy was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alice Scott; sisters, Laura Lee Payne and Anna Wood; brothers, Bobby Scott and Virgil (Marlene) Scott; brother-in-law, Willie Harris.
Quincy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.
A celebration of Quincy's life will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Sunset Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue Officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
