Norman Burton, 70, of Tilton, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at
Presence United Samaritans Medical Center.
Norman was born January 4, 1948, in Somerset, Ky., the son of Linville and Zelma (Tarter) Burton.
He married his best friend, Kelly Swank, on February 22, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.
He also is survived by two children, Lori (Mark) Skoog of Danville and Chad Burton of Danville; three grandchildren, Michael (Kaylee) Andrews of Alvin, Rebecca Boettner of Danville and Braeden Skoog of Danville; and four great-grandchildren, Makenna, Lillian, Kason and Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence "Cub" Burton, Winfred Burton and Henry "Hank" Burton; and his mother- and father-in-law, Rita and Jack.
Norman graduated from Ridge Farm high school in 1966. He was employed by General Motors and retired after 30 years of service.
In his leisure time, he had a passion for golf and enjoyed spending his days on the course "cutting head." He had passion for the Fighting Illini, Cardinals and Cowboys. He had a wonderful sense of humor, wrote poetry, collected salt and pepper shakers and enjoyed going to flea markets with his wife.
Norman was full of life and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
