Norma J. Collins, 86, of McLeansboro, died 9:25 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Augustus "Gus" and Agatha (Kaufman) Karcher. She married Floyd Collins on June 21, 1952; he preceed her in death. She is survived by two sons, John Collins and friend Marie Lorenz of Hawthorne, Fla., and David Collins and wife Kendra of Dahlgren; a daughter, Mary Thomason and husband Bob of Marion; four grandchildren, Heidi Michael and husband Joseph of Gainsville, Fla., Misti Halley and husband Kris of Dahlgren, Adam Collins and wife Andrea of Carterville and Zachary Collins of Orlando, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Reese Michael, Roxy Michael, Isabella Halley, Elizabeth Halley and Connor Collins; a sister, Matilda Miller of Dahlgren; a sister-in-law, Frances Allen of Ada, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Cletus Karcher of Dahlgren; four step grandchildren; 10 nieces; and six nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two siblings, Lorene Aydt and Howard Karcher; and brother and sister-in-laws, Leonard Aydt, Richard Miller, Eunice Karcher and Bill and Barb Collins. She was a home maker. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Altar Sodality, the American Legion Post 106 Auxiliary and St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Father Slawomir Ptak and Deacon Archie Bowers conducting the funeral Mass. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Piopolis. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gholson Funeral HOme in McLeansboro with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. Gholson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
