Nellie Nadine Lemay, 95, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 11:35 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2016 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born Thursday, April 28, 1921 in Scheller, Illinois to parents, George Edward & Mary Emmaline (Williams) Chesney. She married Emmit Orval Lemay in February of 1937 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1971.
Per Mrs. Lemay's request, there will be no visitation.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Old Union Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Don Evans officiating and interment to follow.
Mrs. Lemay is survived by her son, Randy Lemay and wife, Kathy of Opdyke, Illinois; 2 daughters, Norma Payton of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Phyllis Roberts and husband, Todd of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 4 grandchildren, Paula Cornelius and husband, Richard of Nashville, Illinois, Dennis Friedman and wife, Susie of McLeansboro, Illinois, Lisa Miller of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Holly Lemay-Cranor of Lebanon, Tennessee; 6 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and nephew, Gary Chesney and wife, Glenda of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Her parents; husband; grandson, Terry Friedman; 5 brothers, Noble, Russell, Walter, Earl, and Irvin Ray Chesney; and an infant sister preceded her in death.
Nellie was a member of West Side Baptist Church and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Jefferson Memorial Hospital for 18 years before working at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital.
