Nathaniel's Story

Nathaniel A. Tyler, 73, of Mt. Vernon and originally of Fairfield, passed away on May 7, 2017 in St. Louis with his family by his side.

He was born January 16, 1944 to BB and Jala Tyler. He married Joan C. Simpson on April 4, 1964; she survives.

He is survived by three daughters, Cartha Harrah and Tressa (Jim) Morgan of Mt. Vernon, and Cara (Mike) Littleton of Millersville, MO, 8 grandchildren; Whitney Owens, Amanda (Michael) Mosler, Jessica Morgan, Lydia Tyler, Libbey (Clayton) Reeves, Tyler Morgan, Luke Littleton, and Lance Littleton; and three great-grandchildren; Luci & Maddux Owens and Morgan Mosler. He is survived by brother JB (Ollie Mae) Tyler, sisters Shirley (Charles) Steury, Omega (Donnie) Scarborough, and Virginia (Don) Witter), sisters-in-law Marilyn Tyler and Darlene Tyler, and brother-in-law Lewis Cravens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and a son-in-law.

Nate retired from Banterra Bank in Mt. Vernon and loved nothing more than his family and serving others in the community, with a special love of helping others through the Central Christian Church Food Pantry in Mt. Vernon. The family requests donations be made In lieu of flowers to the Central Christian Church Food Pantry.

Johnson Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, IL with funeral service to follow Thursday, May 11 at 10am at Central Christian Church
