Nada's Story

Nada Juliet Upchurch, 90, of Dahlgren, died at 8:32 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker. Nada was born June 28, 1924 in Dahlgren the daughter of Carl and Flora (Clark) McNair. She was married to Charles Evan Upchurch on June 28, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1987. Survivors include a son, Merrill and wife Linda Upchurch of Dahlgren; three daughters, Judith Cermak of Mt. Vernon, Linda Snider and husband Jerry of Cincinnati, OH and Karen Tucker and husband Gary of Benton; a sister, Florine Savage and husband Dean of Belle Rive; 11 grandchildren; Eric and Liz Cermak, Jerel Cermak, Jessica Cermak and friend David Robinson, Mike and Gena Snider, Jeff and Joy Snider, Skyler and Jamie Tucker, Dakota Tucker, Wesley Tucker, Dale Vaughn, Cassandra Upchurch and Rachel and Rob Payne, 14 great- grandchildren: Devon Cermak, Alexis Robinson, David Robinson III, Aliyah Robinson, Christopher and Hannah Snider, Shauna and Jesse Tucker, Caleb and Caden Vaughn, Meghan and Nathanial Ziehm, Evan, Payne and Christian Snider, two great-great-grandchildren: Taylor and Sydney Snider. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. She was a member of the Dahlgren Community Chapel. Nada loved gardening, quilting and visiting people who were “shut ins” and she was active in the Dahlgren Senior Center. Funeral services for Nada Juliet Upchurch were held Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren with Rev. Tony Phelps officiating with burial in the IOOF Cemetery at Dahlgren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, Alyssa Snider, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Ruth McNair and Raymond and Crystal McNair and one son-in-law, Ray Cermak. Memorials may be made to the Dahlgren Community Chapel Building Fund and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren who is in charge of all of the arrangements.
