Muriel Jean Evans, 84, of McLeansboro, passed away 9:04 a.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Harre Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob Gray. Burial will be at Spring Valley Cemetery in Rudement.
She was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Vivian, La., the daughter of Robert Bernard Schach and Vera Elizabeth (Carter) Schach. She married Joseph Evans Oct. 24, 1951, in Piggot, Ark; he preceded her in death April 19, 1994.
Jean worked as a CNA and was Missionary Baptist by faith. Jean loved to play cards, crochet and spend time with grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Jackie Evans Jones and husband Ron of St. Jacob and Jaime Beth Gray and husband Bill of Walpole; two sons, Joseph Evans Jr. and wife Sabrina of McLeansboro and Jaye Eugene Evans and wife Theresa of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Amber Giagnoni, Adrea Klingel, B.J. Gray and Tailor Evans; six great-grandchildren, Grace, Joey, Jebyn, Addeline, Isaac and Hunter; and two sisters, Glenna Sullivan and husband Vernie of Gautier, Miss., and Liz Robinson and husband John P. of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, two sisters and two brothers.
Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of arrangements.
