Mildred Louise Verden

Events

Mildred Louise Verden, 98, of Marshfield, Ind., went to be with the Lord at 10:10 a.m. EDT August 11, 2019, at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mildred was born April 18, 1921, on the family farm south of Marshfield. She was the daughter of Thomas Augustus Verden and Bessie Ewen Verden.
She was a lifelong resident of Warren County. Mildred attended Marshfield and West Lebanon schools and was a 1939 graduate of West Lebanon High School.
Mildred worked at the West Lebanon and Marshfield school lunch program. She then worked at Guthman in Attica, Hoopeston Corn, and Bitelers. Mildred later worked at Teepak in Danville, retiring in 1982.
Mildred was a member of Marshfield Presbyterian Church and also attended Williams Chapel. She loved church dinners, music and fellowship with all her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, crafts and cooking.
Mildred volunteered her time at the Woodland Manor Nursing Home for 30 years, and she was awarded volunteer of the year of Indiana in 2010.
When she riding with Lana and she would see the farmers in the field, she would turn to Lana and ask, "Why would anyone want to live anywhere but Indiana?"
She was a very special aunt, great aunt to several loving nieces and nephews who live all around the world. She also was blessed with many friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Merle Verden and Rae Verden; two sisters, Esther Metcalf and Marie Randles; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Mildred.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. EDT (Williamsport time) Saturday, August 17, at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, Ind., until service time at 1 p.m. EDT with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery.

I always loved Mildred. She was a good Christian lady & will be missed by a lot of people. My condolences goes to the family.

Lots of memories. Am very happy I was able to travel from Australia and visit while she was well and after my brother Paul’s death. She is at peace now. Thank you Lana for everything you did for her.
