Mervin C. Burger, age 82, resident of Eldorado, formerly of Dale, Illinois, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 5 a.m. He was a retired farm hand. Survivors include two sons: Henry Jason (wife Sue) Burger of Queens Creek, Arizona and George Burger of Eldorado; five daughters: Beulah Young and special friend, Ralph Rowden, of Carterville, Dorothea Skropka, Nancy (husband Jeff) Sells, Lunell Will, and Barbara (husband Scott) Owens, all of Eldorado; two brothers: Ellis Burger of Gardner, Illinois, and Donald Burger of Pontiac, Illinois; and one sister: Mary Lewendoski of Mazon, Illinois. Thirty-five grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mervin C. Burger will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Tim Biggerstaff officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Gholson Funeral Home at McLeansboro. Burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses, and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
