WESTVILLE - Mary L. Shaw, 86, of Westville, passed at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in the emergency room of OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville.
She was born May 29, 1931, in Danville, Ill., to Edward and Myme Chapman Kerns Sr.
Mary married Harry Shaw on November 8, 1952, in Westville, Ill.
Harry survives, as well as one son, Robert "Rob" Shaw of Westville; a special niece and nephew, Linda Quick and Jeffrey Shaw. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Kerns Jr. and Robert Kerns, as well as several aunts and uncles.
Mary worked for R & S Printing in Danville, from 1949-1959 and at Judith Giacoma School from 1980-1999. She was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville, and sang in the choir as well as taught Sunday school.
She especially enjoyed her friendship with Sally Hart Yerem that has lasted over 80 years. She enjoyed flowers, spending time with family as well as belonging to the Westville Womens Club.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville, with Rev. David Robberts-Mosser officiating. Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Westville. Visitation: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Robison Chapel in Catlin.
