Mary Irene Rickard (Mehalek), 75, of Dahlgren, died 2:15 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Whitehall, Mont., the daughter of Howard and Marjorie (Helwig) Rickard. She is survived by her three daughters, Robin Voigt of Dahlgren, Dorothy “Dotty” Mehalek of Dahlgren and Turby Gearhart of Casper, Wyo.; a son, John A. Mehalek of Dahlgren; seven grandchildren, Mary Nelson, George Nelson of Wyoming, Robert Wood and Angela Mehalek of Dahlgren, Ashley Wood of Mississippi, Eddie Johnson and wife Bryanna of McLeansboro and William Bedford; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Alfred “Sonny” Cornell in 1999 and Marjorie “Margie” Wood (Mehalek) in 1998. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, puzzle books, coloring and watching TV. She graduated from high school in Whitehall, Mont. she lived in Ennis, Mont., Casper, Wyo., midwest Wyoming, Wibaux, Mont., and Roundup, Mont. She moved to Illinois in 2007 and lived here until her passing. Visitation was held 11 a.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home, Dahlgren. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Jeremy Hamson officiating. Burial was at IOOF Cemetery, Dahlgren. Harre Funeral Home, Dahlgren, is in charge of arrangements.
