Mary Helen (Reece) Drennan, 92, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Lansing, Illinois passed away at 8:01 P.M. November 12, 2017 at Brookdale Monument Valley Assisted Living in Colorado Springs. She was born October 4, 1925 in Farrington Township, Illinois to the late Alvin and Laura (Sumner) Reece. She married Robert "Bob" Drennan on August 15, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were married nearly 24 years before he preceded her in death on June 3, 1971.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Jan Drennan and husband, Larry Naus of Villa Park, Illinois and Carol Beans and husband, Ross of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Emily (Beans) Ross and husband, Brendan of Griffith, Indiana and Caitlyn (Beans) OConnell and husband, Matthew of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law, Kay Jenkins of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her siblings, Marie Rainwater, Howard Reece, Floyd Reece, and Ben Reece.
Mary learned from her mother how to be a seamstress at a very young age. She did a phenomenal job, specializing in making beautiful window treatments at a drapery shop. She was a member of Suburban Bible Church in Highland, Indiana. Mary loved spending time with her family, sewing, and listening to Southern Gospel music. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
