Mary Elizabeth Barteck, 98, of Westville, passed away at 11:26 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at North Logan Health Care, Danville.
She was born August 7, 1919, in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of John and Anna (Lesko) Holecz.
She was united in marriage to Andrew Barteck on April 3, 1937, in Westville, until his passing in 1981.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Carter and Bernadette Berg; her grandchildren, Jeff (Deanna) Maire, Mark Berg, Ed (Terry) Barteck, Chris (Kathy) Barteck, Terry (Andres) Gutierrez Carter, Tracey (Mick) Taylor and Angie (Greg) Lazzell; son-in-law, Tom Maire; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Elizabeth Maire; her son, Andrew Barteck; her sister, Margaret Hurst; and her brother, Frank Holecz.
At 4 years old, Mary moved here from Czechoslovakia. She worked for GE for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N. State St., Westville, with Father Sauppé officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville. She will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery.
