WEST LEBANON, Ind. - Martha Louise (Wiggins) VanHook, 92, West Lebanon, passed away at Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 8:30 p.m.
Martha was born in Mellott, Ind., on May 19, 1925. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Martha B. (Royal) Wiggins. She was raised in the Mellott area, graduating from Richland Township High School in 1943. She has resided in the West Lebanon area since 1960.
Martha was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at Logan School east of Attica and at Seeger High School.
She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in West Lebanon. She enjoyed cooking and doing needlework. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
On April 1, 1945, Martha married Ira Junior VanHook in Sterling, Ind. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1997.
Martha leaves behind a son, John (Judi) VanHook, Williamsport; four grandchildren, JonAnn (Derek) Puterbaugh, Damon VanHook, Sean (fiancée, Denise Hogue) Jernagan and Jared (Nicole) Jernagan; eight great-grandchildren, Scout, Izzi and Jack Puterbaugh, Jacob, Kayce, Ella Grace and Miles Jernagan, Hannah Jernagan; aunt, Mary Louise Wilson, Speedway; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend since the age of 3, Bonnie Simmons, Waynetown. She was preceded in death by a son, David VanHook; a daughter, Jane; and her son-in-law, Jake Jernagan.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, March 5, from noon until service time at 2 p.m. EST with Steven Poston officiating. Burial will follow in the New Richmond Cemetery, New Richmond, Ind.
