Marshal Eugene Chambliss, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois died at 12:35 A.M. August 24, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 18, 1938 in Harmony-Webber Township of Jefferson County, Illinois, son of Marvin & Rose (Sledge) Chambliss. He married Mary Overturf on July 11, 1997 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she survives.
Along with his wife, Mary Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Marshal is survived by his children, Terry Chambliss and wife, Colleen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Cindy Peck of Oakley, Illinois, Deborah Bopp of St. Louis, Missouri, and David Overturf and wife, Sheila of McLeansboro, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Wendell Chambliss of North Pekin, Illinois; and close friend, Scott Clifton Mount Vernon, Illinois.
His parents and brother, Richard Chambliss preceded him in death.
Mr. Chambliss was a carpenter, worked at General Radiator, was a truck driver for G.S. Robins, and a farmer. He loved his family, gardening, and his dog, Little Bit.
Visitation: 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Travis Hayes officiating. Interment: Harmony Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
