Mark Allen Abernathy, 59, of Covington, Ind., died at 1:21 p.m. Thursday, November 23, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born January 12, 1958, at Danville, Ill., the son of Quentin M. and Belinda (Allen) Abernathy.
Mark was a life resident of Covington and a 1976 graduate of Covington High School. He was a carpenter with the family business, Abernathy Home Improvements for 45 years. Mark was a member of First Church of Christ and had been attending West Liberty Church of Christ.
He enjoyed his family, his work as a builder, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, horses, flying, cars and car shows.
Mark married Fara Susan Bugle June 25, 1978, at Covington. She died October 28, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Jason and Joe (Alyssa), both of Covington; a daughter Fara Abernathy, of Rockville; his mother, Belinda Abernathy of Covington; a special friend, Susan Coffing of Covington; brothers, Brian Abernathy of Covington, Kurt (Tina) Abernathy of St. Cloud, Fla., and Brian (Sylvia Cauley) Abernathy. His father preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 28, in West Liberty Church of Christ with Kurt Flora officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church. Cremation will follow the services with burial at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery.
