Marion W. “Red” Breeden, 89, of Broughton, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado. He was born on Aug. 28, 1924, in White County, the son of Sherman and Eva (Bryant) Breeden. On Aug. 13, 1950, he married Mary E. (Woolard) Breeden, who survives in Broughton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Breeden and wife Theresa (Zingery) Breeden of Bloomington, Minn.; three grandchildren, Audrey Breeden, Jessica Breeden and Patrick Breeden, all of Chicago; a brother, Bobby Breeden of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; and two sisters, Betty Woods of Broughton and Vina Raimer of Beaver Dam, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Mr. Breeden was a retired welder, having worked many years at Bucyrus-Erie of Evansville, Ind. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Norris City United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Norris City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jan Roy officiating. Interment will be in the Norris City I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military rites by McLeansboro American Legion Post 106. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Norris City United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the church or Gholson Funeral Home. Arrangements were provided by the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
