Marilyn's Story

Marilyn J. Ribbe, 81, of Monticello, Ind., passed away at 6:14 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017, at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Ind.
She was born August 7, 1936, in Villa Grove, Ill., to the late Ralph and Harriett (Murray) Gerrard.
On June 15, 1958, she married Phillip L. Ribbe at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville, Ill. He survives in Monticello, Ind.
Marilyn resided in Danville until 1965. She raised her family in Kankakee, Ill., until her retirement to Monticello in 1995. Marilyn attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church while living in Kankakee. She went on to attend Monticello United Methodist Church while living in Monticello. She was former president of the Riverside Medical Center Auxiliary in Kankakee. Marilyn also was a member of Merry Mixers Home Economics Club in Monticello.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" (Teresa) Ribbe of Phoenix, Ariz., and Richard "Rick" (Marsha) Ribbe of North Canton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tyler (Briana), Kara, Meredith, Andrew, Alexander; and a great-granddaughter, Riley.
She also was preceded in death by brothers Ralph and William Gerrard, and a sister, Gracia Dyer.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. CST Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Schreffler Funeral Home, 1900 W. Court St., Kankakee, IL 60901.
Visitation also will be 10 a.m. EST until the time of funeral services at noon EST Friday, December 15, 2017, at Monticello United Methodist Church, Monticello. Burial will follow at 10 a.m. CST Saturday, December 16, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Danville, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be given to Monticello United Methodist Church, Monticello, Ind., or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kankakee, Ill. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
