Marilyn's Story

Marilyn Lee Haase, 84, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville.
She was born Nov. 30, 1932, the daughter of Leroy J. and Madolyn (Smith) Newcomb in Garret, Ind.
She was united in marriage to Franklin D. Haase on Jan. 27, 1952, in North Liberty, Ind., until his passing on July 18, 2005. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002.
She leaves behind her sons, James (Sue) Haase, Dave (Maggie) Haase and Richard Haase, all of Ridge Farm; her daughter, Mary Beth Haase of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Eric (Tisha) Haase, Ryan (Heather) Haase, Brandy (Ed) Peevler, Madolyn Estrada, Elisha (Charlie) Lyons, Stacey (Justin) Ray, Dustan Haase and Sarah Haase, Seth McDaniels and Olivia McDaniels; her great-grandchildren, Lacey and Shelby Peevler, Paitan Haase, Alex and Mathew Lyons, Gavin, Zane and Jaxen Ray; her brother, Bud (Donnie) Newcomb of North Liberty, Ind.; and her sister, Jan Hammaker of Warsaw, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marilyn was a member of Vermilion Grove Friends Church and Women's Home Extension. She loved square dancing and traveled extensively abroad with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking and canning and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading Karen Kinsbury's books. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, as well as her dog, Coal.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 9, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Vermilion Grove Cemetery.
