Marie M. Wilson, 98, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:25 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at McLeansboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in McLeansboro. She was born Monday, Nov. 27, 1916, in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph T. and Clarissa Mary (Wendt) LaLonde. She married Robert E. Wilson, Sr., on Sept. 10, 1938, in Saginaw, Mich., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1979. Marie graduated from St. Francis High School in Traverse City, Mich. She was past president and member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, past president of Church Women United, past president of Mt. Vernon Art Guild, was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and was a faithful member St. Mary Good Samaritan Auxiliary for over 30 years. She was a long-standing member of Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge Chapter 1624 (W.O.T.M.), Mt. Vernon Elks (B.P.O.E.) Lodge 819, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling extensively in twenty-three states and to fifteen overseas countries including a number of cruises. She is survived by son, Robert E. Wilson, Jr., and wife Jewell Ann of Dahlgren; two daughters, Jean Marie Dombrousky and husband Paul S. of Dahlgren and Barbara Ann Ksiazk and husband Albert of South Elgin; five grandchildren, Rhonda Marie Felker and husband James, Jason Albert Ksiazk and wife Amy, Deanna J. Erwin and husband Dwayne, Karissa Wilson and Robert E. Wilson, III and wife Shelly; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and sister, Dolores Kolb of Petaluma, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral mass was be held at 10 a.m. March 9 at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with the Very Rev. Father John Iffert officiating. Interment will be at Pinora Township Cemetery in Reed City, Mich., at a later date. Evening visitation was held March 8 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with a vigil for the deceased held. Morning visitation an hour prior to service time at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon.
