ATTICA, Ind. - Marie Catherine (Phelps) Wesley, 83, Attica, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017, in Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Marie was born in Bethelridge, Ky., on December 25, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Lorenza and Sally Blaine (Vaught) Phelps. She was raised in the Bethelridge community, attending Casey County schools.
Marie married Dallas R. Wesley in Bethelridge, Ky., on March 21, 1953. After their marriage they moved to Attica.
While living in Attica, Marie worked in the cafeteria at Attica Grade School and High School until her retirement. She also had worked at Radio Material Corp. and Redman's Grill in Attica.
Marie was a member of Attica Free Methodist Church. She has given her heart to the Lord at an early age and followed her Lord and Savior her entire life.
One of her greatest joys was hosting yard sales every year. She enjoyed listening to country music by her favorite artist, Alan Jackson. Following her retirement, Marie traveled extensively throughout the United States with family and friends.
Marie leaves behind her husband, Dallas, of 64 years; two daughters, Valarie S. (Robert) Maus, Attica, and Vicki L. (Frank) Adams, Lafayette, Ind.; two sons, Greg W. (Margo) Wesley, Attica, and Jeff R. Wesley, Lafayette; a brother, Charles Phelps, Science Hill, Ky.; four grandchildren, Nathan Maus, Amy Maus, Kevin Wesley and Kyla Adams; a great-grandson, Wyatt Maus.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, J.C. Phelps, and two other brothers, Donald and Edward Phelps.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, January 4, from 5-8 p.m. EST. A celebration of Marie's life will be at the Attica Free Methodist Church, 301 N. Sixth St., Attica, on Friday, January 5, at 11 a.m. EST with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating and family and friends speaking. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
