Marie's Story

Marie M. Rennick, 84, of Danville, Ill., passed away January 6, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Marie was born June 14, 1933, as Marie Melvina Bangle in Green Bay, Wis., and grew up on a dairy farm in Unity, Wis. After graduating from high school, she moved to Chicago and attended business school.
Marie met her husband, Corky Rennick, in 1953 at the Navy Pier USO. Marie and her husband moved to Danville in 1960.
She was a long-time member of The Church of Holy Trinity (Episcopal) where over the years she was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Altar Guild.
Marie was very active in supporting local theater companies. She created and sewed many costumes for Red Mask Theater, Danville Light Opera and Danville High School Madrigals. She was a member of the Danville Lioness club, an accomplished seamstress, outstanding cook and baker. She made wedding cakes and created custom wedding gowns for several local brides.
Marie enjoyed raising her family of five children, cooking, sewing, art, reading mysteries and crossword puzzles. Marie most recently lived at Bowman Estates Assisted Living, where she enjoyed time with her many friends, playing cards and attending local performances from school and church groups.
Marie is survived by daughter, Sheryl (Dave) Pegg; son, Frederick Rennick; daughter Mary Meade; niece Teresa (Brian) Rogers; grandsons Benjamin Schingel, Nicholas (Jessica) Schingel, Jacob Hicks, Curtis Rennick, Robert Rennick; granddaughters Katherine Hicks and Jordan Meade; great-nieces Jeanne (Patrick) Nichols, Destiny (Junior) Castillo; and great-grandchildren Jaydn Hicks and Arianna Klaman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corky Rennick; daughter Laurel Chambers; and son Andrew Rennick.
Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. January 12, at Church of the Holy Trinity in Danville. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. January 13. All friends and family are invited to attend.
