She leaves to cherish her memory: nine children, Dorothy (Lawrence) Beasley, Dorsey (Patricia) Boyd, Margaret Boyd, Evelyn (Oliver) Buford, Barbara Evans, and Susan (Thomas) Parker all of Danville, Brenda Evans of Paxton, Larry Boyd and Clara Boyd of Champaign; and two surviving sisters, April (John) King and Eleanora (Willie) Howard of Danville. She also leaves six step-sisters and brothers, Betty Jones Hooks, JoAnn Hooks, and Darlene Hooks of Chicago and three step-brothers, Steve (Amin) Hooks, Everdell (Hamidullah) Hooks, and Rufus Hooks Jr of Chicago. She leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sons, one daughter, husband, mother, father, sister, one step-sister, one step-brother, two brothers and three grandsons.
Margaret Smith was a faithful servant of Jehovah God. She not only taught his word, but lived by what she taught. Her service to Jehovah God of 50 years will not go unnoticed for Jehovah promised us everlasting life. Everyone who entered her home she spoke and taught about Jehovah God. When her body began to fail and she became weak, she still had bible studies and constantly taught the word of God. She welcomed the old, the young, and children to give their lives to Jehovah. Even though she had many children, plus raising her sisters, she fed, clothed, and treated others as her own. Always a smile on her face, a loving and caring spirit, a true woman of Jehovah God. She loved her children with all her heart and taught them to love and respect others and to be independent. She was a woman of pride, integrity, dignity and self-worth. SHE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY HER FAMILY. WE LOVE YOU, MOM!!!!!!
* A special thanks to her granddaughter, Deshon Oliver. Thank you for looking out and taking care of Mom while in Hinsdale, Ill. for two months. You went every day and night making sure she was cleaned, turned, bathe, and fed. You sent photos of her smiling, sleeping peacefully when you entered the room and when you were leaving. You are to be commended.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.at the Kingdom Hall, 619 E. Voorhees, Danville. Officiating: Brother James Brandon.
