Lucas Daniel Johnson, 22, of McLeansboro, died Saturday morning, Jan. 2, 2016. He was born June 28, 1993, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Jeffrey Scott and Jackie K. (Holland) Johnson. He is survived by his parents; a brother, Austin Johnson and wife Kaela of Enfield; grandparents, Danny Johnson and wife Sandy of McLeansboro; grandparents Velma Perryman and husband Herman of Thompsonville; grandmother, Virginia Minder of McLeansboro; grandfather, Eugene Holland of Carmi; nephews, Rylan and River Johnson; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Ida Lane. He was a roof bolter and employed by Hamilton County Coal, McLeansboro. He was a member of the Church of the Harvest in Wayne City. Lucas loved to bow hunt, work out and spend time with his family. Family was very important to him. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Clark and Sister Ruby McDowell officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McLeansboro. Memorials may be given to a scholarship which will be set up for McLeansboro high school graduates who wish to pursue a career in coal mining technology. Arrangements are being conducted by Harre Funeral home, McLeansboro.
