Louella "Lou"'s Story
Louella "Lou" Rose Simmons, age 89, of Danville, passed away at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville on August 1, 2017 at 5:10am.
Louella was born in Danville to Florent Deketelaire and Esther (Jack) Boyd on June 25, 1928. She moved to Chicago with her Mother and Step-Father and attended school before returning to Danville. She married Harold Simmons on May 26, 1967. She was employed at General Electric. She enjoyed crocheting, mushrooming, playing Bingo at the nursing home, and spending time with her Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren.
Louella is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Dennis Burchfield, and two sisters Pricilla Lomax and Norma Beauvois.
Louella is survived by her brother George (Marilyn) Boyd of Nebraska and her daughter Linda (Jim) Gibson. Her Grandchildren Todd Taylor, Jamie Creason, Denny (Angie) Burchfield Jr, and Michael Burchfield. Her Great Grandchildren Lindsey (Scott) Dougherty, Brandon Creason, Samantha Creason, Lee Ann Burchfield, and Luke Burchfield. She is also survived by her Great Great Grandchildren Lakin and Legend Dougherty, Piper Creason, Nevaeh Parham, Aubree Burchfield and Jaxson Smoot. All of Danville.
A celebration of Louella's life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834 with James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Oakhill Cemetery in Danville.
