Linda Louise Shaw passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 65. Linda was born on Dec. 15, 1951 to Samuel and Blanche Graham.
She attended Danville Public Schools where one of her proudest moments at DHS was being crowned the first African-American homecoming queen in 1969. She also followed in her sister's footsteps in attending and graduating from Tennessee State University in 1969.
On Sept. 15, 1976, she married the love of her life, Eugene E. Shaw, and gave birth to Heather Graham Shaw of Tampa, Fla.
Linda worked as an analyst for electronic data systems EDS, prior to that she taught in Germany and all around the US.
Family was extremely important to her, the time she spent with them was precious. Linda also enjoyed reading, shopping, gardening, and traveling with friends.
Linda is survived by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Heather; brother, Samuel (Velma) Graham; sister, Janet (Carl) Alexander; niece, Monica (Dallas) Smith; and cousins, Romadelle Austin, Theresa (Lewis) Garrison and Charles Cumby.
Her family will receive friends at Second Baptist Church, 940 N. Franklin St., on Saturday, May 6, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. The funeral will begin at 12 noon. Rev. MacArthur Pendleton. Burial Spring Hill Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 East Williams Street, Danville, in charge of arrangements.
