Lena's Story

Lena M. Marbury peacefully passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at her daughter's home in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
She was born May 27, 1929, in Alexander City, Ala., to Tommie and Essie Chapman.
On April 26, 1947, she married Milton Marbury.
Lena had a passion for singing gospel music and was a member of Union Baptist and New Union Baptist Church choirs for over 50 years combined. She also was an active member of the Laura Lee Women's Auxiliary until limited by health. Her hobbies were cooking and gardening.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Lena Roschell of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; granddaughter, Kelli (Wesley) Currie and great-grandson Kaden Currie of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, Joe Chapman of Alexander City, Ala.; sisters, Willie P. Marbury and Alberta Joyner of Danville; sisters-in-law, Annie L. Chapman of Alexander City, Ala., and Jerrie R. Chapman of Danville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Tom Chapman, John Chapman and Rufus Chapman; and sister, Linnie B. Chapman.
A celebration of life will commence at noon Friday, December 1, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating: Pastor U.D. Williams. Interment: Danville, National Cemetery.
