Lelia Donelson, 108, of McLeansboro, died 5:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at McLeansboro Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1907, in McLeansboro, the daughter of William Pleasant York and Laura Jane (Hinkle) York. She married Leslie Lee Donelson on Feb. 22, 1928, in McLeansboro; he preceded her in death on March 31, 1989. She is survived by four daughters, Daphne Drake of McLeansboro, Marilyn James of Kerrville, Texas, Clara Nel Dillinger and husband Bob of Paducah, Ky. and Katherine Lakin of McLeansboro; one son, Donald Donelson of McLeansboro; 17 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 42 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Lee Ann James; one granddaughter, Sheri Lynn James; two great-grandsons, Nathan Maxson and Jonathan Terry James; four sisters, Nell Denny, Ruby Erwin, Mary Helen Schorr and Elnora Herman; five brothers, Fern York, Howard York, Clarence Fowler, Carl Fowler and Ray “Spud” York. She was a homemaker. She also assisted her husband with Donelson Funeral Home for 48 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in McLeansboro. She lived through the offices of 18 United States presidents. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Reverends Robert Sefried and Mark Byars officiating. The visitation was held 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Harre Funeral Home. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro. Memorials may be made to Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home. Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all of the arrangements.
