Larry Sudlow

Larry Sudlow, 72, of Danby, Vt., passed away from cancer on the 29th of April at Mountain View Center in Rutland, Vt. Larry was born in Danville and spent his early years in Catlin. After his graduation from Catlin High School in 1964, Larry joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Va., where he worked as a computer operator. In 1969 he moved to Boston, Mass., and married Marci Morton that same year. During the three years that the couple lived in Boston, Larry worked for Harvard University in their computer department. Larry and Marci moved to Vermont in 1972 and settled in Danby in 1973. Larry began work for the State of Vermont, Department of Employment in 1975 and, while there, he graduated from the College of St. Joseph with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1998. He managed both the Bennington and Rutland employment offices simultaneously for a number of years prior to his retirement in 2012. During his retirement years, Larry served on the Board of Directors of Vermont Adult Learning and was Chairman of the Board until he was forced by illness to resign.
Larry enjoyed hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, bicycling, camping, traveling, vacationing, writing songs and playing guitar. Larry was a kind man who loved all the pets and horses who shared their lives with him and his wife over the years, and who always tried to improve the lives of others. He will be missed by many.
Larry was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Joyce (McKeehan) Sudlow; his father, Paul Leland Sudlow; and his step mother, Eva Lou (Schnackenberg) Sudlow. Surviving are his wife, Marci Sudlow; a sister, Paula (Michael) Clay of Cumberland, Wis.; two brothers, John (Beth) Sudlow of Oakwood, Ill., and Edward (Teresa) Sudlow of Catlin; and a number of nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

I remember Larry very well. He was a sweet, quiet boy, very intelligent and studious. I think he had a silly nickname (we all did!); his was "Sudsy". I won't say what mine was, but I would have much preferred Larry's :)
