Larry Lynn Darr, 80, of Danville passed away Dec. 23, 2016, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Larry was born the son of Seth Willis and Vera Leone (Price) Darr on March 18, 1936, at home in Jamaica, Ill.
Larry married the love of his life Barbara Hiser on July 25, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving, Kathy (Steve) Fitzgerald, Diana Smith, Michael Darr and Shane Darr; 10 grandchildren, Kelli, Erin, Shannan, Ryan, Lindsay, Logan, Chloee, Brandon, Nathan and Derek; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lynda (Bill) Knight; and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Patrick; one son-in-law, Bob; two brothers; and two sisters.
Larry went to work for Rhodes Burford Furniture in 1955 where he was employed until 2003. Larry was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church. During his younger years, Larry was an avid hunter. Larry enjoyed watching all animals, especially birds, taking care of his garden, always having pride in his home, yard and family. Larry enjoyed playing euchre and going on family vacations, but most of all spending time with his family.
A celebration of Larry's life will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Vermilion Heights Christian Church. A visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Friday at the church. Per Larry's wishes, his cremation will be handled by Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
